Charges
Article Processing Charges (APCs)
Open access provides free and immediate online access to academic research, allowing anyone worldwide to read, distribute, and reuse content. To support this model, the Journal of Infectious Diseases and Pneumology (JIDP) implements Article Processing Charges (APCs) for articles that successfully pass peer review and are accepted for publication.
It is important to note that APCs are only payable after the manuscript is accepted for publication. However, authors are required to confirm during the submission process that they will be able to pay the APC if their manuscript is accepted. This ensures transparency and avoids delays in publication.
APC Structure and Rates
APCs are the primary revenue stream for the Journal of Infectious Diseases and Pneumology (JIDP), covering the costs associated with high-quality publishing operations. These charges are often funded by authors’ research institutions, grants, or personal funds. Revenue from APCs also helps launch new journals, expand access to underfunded research fields, and support open science initiatives.
The APC for publishing in the Journal of Infectious Diseases and Pneumology (JIDP) is:
$100 per article
Note: APCs are reviewed periodically and do not include applicable taxes.
Payment can be made via the following methods:
- Bank transfer (details will be provided upon acceptance).
- Credit or debit card through secure payment platforms, including PayPal or Stripe (a payment link will be provided).
What APCs Cover
Editorial and Review Operations
APCs ensure that the journal maintains rigorous editorial and review processes, including:
- Editorial Management: Professional staff oversee the editorial program, technology development, and services for authors, editors, and reviewers.
- Peer Review Process: APCs cover the costs of assigning expert reviewers, maintaining quality standards, and providing constructive feedback to authors.
- Editorial Board Support: Coordination of high-quality content, special collections, and support for editorial board members.
Publication Costs
APCs cover the costs of producing and disseminating articles, including:
- Production: Formatting, copy-editing, assigning DOIs (Digital Object Identifiers), indexing, and archiving articles.
- Innovation: Continuous improvement of tools and services for authors, reviewers, and editors.
- Promotion: Disseminating research through media, newsletters, conferences, and social platforms.
Administrative Costs
APCs support essential journal operations, such as:
- Human Resources and Finance: Managing staff, accounting, and other administrative functions.
- New Initiatives: Supporting the launch of new journals and underfunded research areas.
Commitment to Pay APCs
During the submission process, authors are required to:
- Confirm that they understand the APC of $100 and commit to paying it upon acceptance.
- Indicate that they have secured funding from their institution, grant, or personal resources, or that they plan to apply for a fee waiver if eligible.
This commitment ensures that the publication process is smooth and transparent for all parties involved.
Fee Discounts and Support
To ensure inclusivity, the Journal of Infectious Diseases and Pneumology (JIDP) offers the following options for authors with limited financial resources:
- Fee Support Program: Discounts or full waivers are available for authors without sufficient funding. These are granted on a case-by-case basis, ensuring that financial constraints do not limit the dissemination of quality research.
- Institutional Payment Plans: Agreements with institutions, libraries, and funding bodies to cover APCs on behalf of authors, reducing administrative burdens and providing centralized invoicing.

The Cost of Rejections
The Journal of Infectious Diseases and Pneumology (JIDP) adheres to strict quality standards. While APCs are only payable for accepted articles, they also help cover the costs of the peer review and editorial processes for manuscripts that are ultimately rejected. This ensures the integrity and sustainability of our operations.
