APCs offer an alternative to traditional subscription fees, ensuring that all content is openly and freely available, thereby accelerating scientific collaboration and innovation.

APC Structure

APCs are the sole revenue stream for ScienceJournalHub and cover the cost of all operations. Typically, APCs are funded by authors' research organizations or through grants. Our APC rates are competitive and structured to support industry-leading services for our authors, editors, and readers. Additionally, revenue from APCs is reinvested to launch new journals and support fields with lower levels of funding, promoting the benefits of open access to as many researchers as possible.

This structure ensures that more mature journals and well-funded communities subsidize newer journals and those with less funding, making open access publishing accessible to all research communities.

• Communications: Promoting and disseminating research through news media, social media, newsletters, and conferences.

General Administration

• Operations: Covers human resources, accounting, and administrative functions necessary for running the journal.

Inclusive Growth

• New Initiatives: Investment in new publication initiatives across the academic spectrum, subsidized by higher APCs in mature journals.
• Honoraria: Awarding chief editors for their work, independent of acceptance decisions.

Advocacy and Collaborations

• Engagement: Working with organizations like the European Commission and World Economic Forum to promote open science.
• Outreach and Awards: Supporting scientific outreach programs, such as ScienceJournalHub for Young Minds and ScienceJournalHub Policy Labs.

Fee Discounts and Support

Fee Support Program: To ensure that all articles that pass peer review can benefit from open access, ScienceJournalHub offers a fee support program for authors with insufficient funding. Discounts and full waivers are available for eligible authors, ensuring inclusivity regardless of their financial situation.

National and Institutional Payment Plans: ScienceJournalHub collaborates with research institutions, libraries, consortia, and funders to support authors through centralized invoicing platforms, removing the financial burden from authors. Institutions can become members through individual agreements or national consortia agreements, providing benefits such as reduced administrative time, discounts on APCs, and detailed data reports.

The Cost of Rejections

ScienceJournalHub does not set acceptance or rejection rates. Our editorial policy is based on clearly defined quality standards, certifying the objective quality and rigor of research. APCs also cover the cost of reviewing and triaging manuscripts that are ultimately rejected, ensuring the integrity of our publications.
